The Graham Brush Preserve

Although named in honor of the late Graham Brush, this parcel was not donated by him. It is a 40 acre parcel off Wintergreen Lane, previously owned by Jed Strukus and purchased from him, by the Warren Land Trust in April 2002, with partial funding from the State of Connecticut's Open Space & Watershed Acquisition Grant Program.
After buying the land from Strukus, the Warren Land Trust granted a Conservation Easement to the State of Connecticut as part of the grant acquisition.
The land is at one of the highest points in the state and is mostly heavy hardwood forest intercut with white pine.
Its acquisition marked the first time the Warren Land Trust had successfully navigated a grant from the state as part of our acquisition process.
Shortly after purchase of the land Dorothy Maier contacted Kay Brush, Graham's widow and suggested that the Warren Land Trust honor Graham for hisĀ contributions "of time, ideas, money and easements," all of which created the rock solid foundation on which the Warren Land Trust is built.
